Photoshoot in a galaxy far far away…

Greetings fellow X-Wingers. This week I finally decided to use my DSLR again and while normally shooting landscapes, nature and elusive animals (like that super rare backyard squirrel), I thought I’d try my hand at something different that encompasses another one of my countless hobbies.

So instead of boring you to death with my incoherent jabbering, I thought I’d show you my latest repaint in all it’s glory… Behold, the dark lord of the sith himself (insert favourite character here) might have influenced the design on this scummy Y-Wing:

Next to the Z-95 Headhunters, Y-Wings are probably my favourite fighters to repaint. I can’t think of another ship that can really show off the engine glow effect as good as the humble workhorse of the republic fleet. In fact my very first repaint was the red Y-Wing you can see below, and just because of that it will always be closer to my heart than its repaint job might suggest. Oh how far we’ve come πŸ™‚

It’s a shame that the Y-Wing model is not seeing as much tabletop time at the moment as it used to, but then again I’m sure it won’t be long before we see some of these durable proton torpedo slingers in the mix again. I’ve always liked the design of the Y-Wing as a simple yet effective combat vehicle and I know there are many fans out there giving them all the love they deserve πŸ˜‰

Next up I wanted to show you a duel of a different kind…

I think in terms of gameplay it is clear that Whisper will in most cases win this duel by a mile, but if the illicit cloaking device holds for a few turns and the lonewolf ability kicks in, N’Dru might be able to show the dark side his ferocious shark teeth…

(I wrote an easy tutorial on painting a cloaking effect here)

Now we encounter a scene from a more recent time. Poe Dameron with BB-8 on board and a T-70 X-Wing escort is hunting down two rather curious looking first order TIE fighters. This would never have been allowed with the standards of the Empire still in effect.

Going back to the very beginnings of the saga I just wanted to create an old school scene showing some of the original heroes and bringing back that flair from when it all began…

Last but not least, I’m going to leave you with some artistic shots created with the help of the newly discovered Prisma app.

I hope you enjoyed this rather graphic blog post today. Sometimes a few pictures say more than a 1000 words πŸ˜‰

Let me know what you think in the comments below and until then…

May the paint be with you.

  1. Sehr cool! Auch wenn das Spiel halt echt komplex ist – manchmal will man die Dinger einfach aufstellen und “PEW PEW PEW!” denken… =)
